GEORGE’S URBAN CRO-MOLY CITY BIKE

Frame built in March 2013.

“I live and work in Zurich, Switzerland and 8 years ago I asked George Voyatzis to build me a made-to-measure Fidusa frame – a handmade fixie with chromed lugs in the size and colour of my specification. I was very happy with this first collaboration so decided to commission something a little more complicated.”

George wanted to build a bike with a Shimano Alfine groupset with internal gearing in the rear hub, hydraulic disc brakes, carbon fork, and a front wheel hub dynamo. We started searching for an Alfine compatible rear dropout and sourced one from Paragon Machine Works in California. Brake and gear frame guides were located underneath the down tube to leave a clean top tube and suitable fender mounts were included on the fork crown and rear brake bridge. His name was engraved on the bottom bracket shell.

Frame tubing is oversized Columbus Zona with a 1 1/8” head tube and the frame was designed with geometry for loaded, long tours which include short, sharp climbs. Correct geometry is essential with a bike of this type for correct weight distribution when the bike is fully loaded for touring.
